Kombucha is known the world over for being a miracle drink. Its followers shout the health benefits of consuming the drink from the rooftops, and it is sold in many markets as a "health elixir." In fact, if you perform a Google search for kombucha’s health benefits, you’ll find a multitude of websites claiming that the tea is nothing short of miracle drink, and that it is supposed to:

- prevent against arthritis, gout, arteriosclerosis, anxiety, and many other ailments

Is Kombucha actually good for you?
According to modern research, YES! Kombucha is most likely a healthful and beneficial addition to anyone's diet.
HOWEVER, this research is limited: controlled studies on kombucha's health effects have only been done on animal subjects, most commonly rodents, leaving a surprising gap in research of kombucha’s effects on the human population. Therefore, official health claims cannot be made to the benefits of consuming kombucha. However, it should not be ruled out that consumption of kombucha has health benefits in humans. Kombucha is recognized as containing antioxidant properties and pharmacologically active molecules, which make it a significantly functional “health food.” More research needs to be done with human trials in order to officially declare kombucha’s benefits for human health and wellness.
