Health Benefits of Red Wine
As a little overview... Wine contains many antioxidants and polyphenols, which is an important factor that helps reduce inflammation, improve blood vessel health, and more! A key health benefit is the effects it has on your heart health.
Cardiovascular Disease and Red Wine
-Cardiovascular disease (heart disease) is the leading cause of death among western world adults! According to the Mayo Clinic: “Cardiovascular Disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain or stroke."
-Resveratrol may prevent fat accumulation and reduce insulin resistance. This can lower the risk of developing diabetes as well as prevents blood clotting and plaque forming in arteries. But that's not all; studies have also shown that it may be anti-carcinogenic (anti-cancer) because it inhibits certain enzymes that promote the death of cancer cells in the body.
The French Paradox
-The French population consumes 30% more fat than Americans, but has 40% less heart attacks.
-In their culture, it is normal to drink wine in moderation, which is daily usually. Keep in mind, "moderation" means one 5 ounce glass for women and two 5 ounce glasses a day for men.

Other Found Health Benefits
Prevention of...
-Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases that are neurodegenerative (More info)
-Dysentery
-Asthma and arthritis
-Stomach cancer
-Colorectal cancer
Increased...
-Hair and skin health benefits
-Endurance
Additionally...
-Studies have shown that people who drink occasionally drink alcohol, especially red wine, have significantly lower mortality rates (20% to 40%) than non drinkers or heavier drinkers.
-The Copenhagen City Heart Study done in 1988 found evidence that strongly correlated moderate wine consumption to a sharp reduction in human mortality rates. They also found that wine drinkers have half the risk of dying at any given age compared to non-drinkers.
-There are also downsides to drinking in general that must be noted as well:
...wine contains empty calories, which can lead to weight gain
...alcohol consumption can increase liver disease risk, high blood pressure, the chance of heart failure and of course, may lead to addiction
